Yoga in Kerala

Yoga Teacher Training Course in Kerala

This is my first time travel to India. It was suggested by my traveler friend that it is easier to start from the South of India. Sole purpose of this travel is to learn about yoga from the land of its birth.I am in Cochin at the moment attending a few yoga classes before I move to Alleppey, Varkala and Trivandrum and then joining to do the yoga teacher training at Tulasidalam.
I am staying in Ernakulam as its cheaper. There is boat service from Ernakulam to Fort Kochi very frequently. I am taking the morning boat to Fort Kochi and coming back by evening. Its fine... little crowded!!!
I am attending yoga classes at three different places. The teachers are good. Its mostly the classical hatha yoga style. The spiritual side is still missing in these tourist centers as I think the idea of yoga practice is modulated for the westerners, I did not see any locals coming for the yoga classes. Most of the yoga people here are familiar with the name Sivananda. One who has heard the name Tulasidalam said it was a deep yoga study center and not so easy to get admission there as it is under a Guru, not a big organisation... well thankyou that's what I really want.

Today I am back from Fort Kochi early as I wanted to take a look around Ernakulam.
I went to have my lunch in good local hotel restaurant..BTH.. I ordered thali..which is the south Indian lunch ..they call meals.. they spread a banana leaf and all the different vegetable preparations were served on the upper side of the leaf and the rice was served on the side close to you. I wanted to try eat with my hands.. so in I went for the adventure ... first came dal with ghee and pappadam... yes it tastes wow.. when mixed well with hands.. I looked around for clues of how to eat.. then sambar..it was a bit spicy for me..but ok I managed.. Then curd and buttermilk all with the different vegetables that was on the leaf... and at the end the sweet they call 'payasam'..after the heavy lunch I feel nothing more for the day.Went back to my room for a small nap and is out for the evening. There is a big temple near where I stay and I have seen two big fantastic elephants on the temple grounds.. I am going to take a look and some window shopping..
